HÖRMANN Vehicle Engineering (HVE) supports the student racing teams at Chemnitz University of Technology and Mittweida University of Applied Sciences - financially and with development expertise. "We help the students when there are problems or they get stuck at a certain point," explains HR manager Amanda Richardson. The racing teams are independent clubs that develop and build a "Formula Student" racing car and present it in races and static disciplines. The students work on "their" car for six to nine months. "They sometimes put in 60 to 80 hours a week," says Lucas Hofmann, systems engineer for fiber composite components. He himself was a "racing car developer" a few years ago and is now a sponsor for the Chemnitz University of Technology's racing team. "These are exactly the kind of fully committed people we are looking for as employees," emphasizes Amanda Richardson. Lucas Hofmann adds: "My studies take a bit of a back seat, but I've learned more in the racing car project than I did during my studies." Project engineer Toni Günther is the racing team sponsor for the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, whose aim is also to get students interested in the HÖRMANN Group at an early stage through the university project.
