What kind of training are you doing at HÖRMANN?
I have just completed my apprenticeship as a tool mechanic. I am a dual student, which means I will continue my studies for another 1.5 years. It's 8 semesters in total. I spend 3 days a week at university and the other days here as an intern. We dual students are in different departments and are introduced to what we will do later as engineers.
What are they?
This is very different! It can be the development of new tools or project planning - where there is capacity or where a new project is pending. The aim is not to focus on one area, but to look at it: Where do you fit in best, where do your strengths lie, where do you enjoy working the most later on?
Would you do it again?
Yes, definitely, even though I hadn't originally planned to do a dual study program. I actually only wanted to do the pre-study internship here for my planned mechanical engineering degree. Then my superiors suggested the dual study program. I thought about whether I could manage it, even with my hobbies. I'm an athlete and play soccer. But it's going great and it's fun - so it's all good!
"Switching between university and work at the company is great!"

What do you like the most?
The change between university and work in the company is great - you wouldn't know that if you didn't know it. I like doing something manual here and something intellectually challenging at university. I always thought it would be impossible to combine a dual course of study with my hobbies. But it works really well. Nothing has come up short so far.
Why did you choose HÖRMANN?
I come from very close by, ride my bike to work and always wanted to do something related to vehicles. I think it's cool that we make parts for vehicles here. When I sit in my car and see other vehicles, I sometimes think that the hood could also be from HÖRMANN.
What has been the most exciting thing so far?
To be in toolmaking and see how they work and what they do there. How the tools are made to create a truck door in the end. And how big some of the tools are. The forces involved in the work - it's simply fascinating to see how advanced the technology is, with robotic arms that then pass the sheets on everywhere.
